UrbanIxD Summer School

Olga Surawska

I am a designer with a multidisciplinary background in visual communication, product design and fine art, and with a passion for discovery. I worked as a freelance information designer, art director at Leo Burnett, product designer at McCann Worldgroup and studied Style&Design at Zürcher Hochschule der Künste before gaining a BA degree in Industrial Design and Visual Communication from Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw in 2010.

In 2012 I graduated from Central Saint Martins College of Arts & Design with an MA diploma in Communication Design, exploring ‘Potential applications for poetic structures in wayfinding’. Currently I am a PhD candidate at University of the Arts London CSM, investigating ‘Discovery in Flux: aspects of adventure and safety as factors in exploratory walking in changing urban landscapes.’ I have been awarded a Mloda Polska grant for postgraduate study from Polish Ministry of Culture and a grant for doctoral study from Central Saint Martins.

I also teach Graphic Design, Data Visualisation and Experience Design short courses at Central Saint Martins and Information Design: London Barcelona summer school 2013 in collaboration with Elisava Barcelona School of Design and Engineering.
