Leyla Nasibova

Leyla Nasibova is an experience designer with a strong passion for human-centered design and interactive media. Originally from Azerbaijan, she is currently finishing her MA studies in New Media at Aalto University – School of Arts, Design and Architecture in Helsinki. Having worked on four continents, Leyla has grown a stern belief in the power of design thinking as a key catalyzer for building a sustainable future.

In this process, Leyla has worked on numerous projects involving design within emerging complex systems. Among other, she has designed a future concept for Finnish citizen’s homepage commissioned by Finnish Ministry of Economy, as well as experimented with augmented reality on mobile devices for Nokia. Key areas of focus in her work are the power of the massive brain, customization and gamification.

In addition to this, Leyla ultimately sees design as a tool for engagement and transformation. Recently she has been experimenting with interactive media installations in the public sphere as a tool for creating engaging dialogue.
Leyla’s current thesis research explores the potential of digital connectivity for community empowerment in developing countries. This project has recently been awarded the James W. Carey Urban Communication Grant.
